When I posted my projects done with February's Scrappy Chics kit, I forgot to add this layout.

This is of Bekah (again!) with her most prized possessions (at the moment). My Little Ponies are so sweet...I love their little "cutie" marks on their back leg. I remember playing with MLP when I was a bit older than her. Its crazy how history repeats itself :)

Anyway, on to the layout...

Everything you see is available in the kit, except for the pink roses (my stash) and the white lace ribbon (a previous kit).

I really wanted to use the swirl bling, but it just seemed to big for my layout. So I trimmed it down and it fit perfectly. :)

I still have a few more projects to show with this months kit. I'll be sure to post those real soon!

I'm so glad January is over. Ugh. It was a dreadful month. I will elaborate later, but for now lets relish in the fabulous kit for February from Scrappy Chics!This first layout is of dear, sweet Bekah. She had fallen asleep on the couch all decked out in her "Cowgirl Jessie" costume. Boots included.

I really love this line by October Afternoon. Love how the colors can be used for a girl or a boy.

The little yellow roses were white. I sprayed some yellow mist on them to match the papers.

Hmm...I think the banners are becoming a trademark for me just like the butterflies. Lol.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------This next layout is another one of Bekah. This is what happens when you give a 3 year old a pair of funky glasses...

The grey ruffles with the rhinestones was in a past Scrappy Chics kit. The black flower is the lace that comes in the kit. I cut it in half and then twisted it into a flower. The birdcage was cut from my Cameo (love!!) that I got for Christmas.

Happy New Year!!! I cannot believe its already 2012! I'm anxious for a new year...I have some "challenges" for myself instead of resolutions. I'll share those in another post.A new year means a new month. Once again Melinda outdid herself with the January kit for Scrappy Chics. Lots of pretty blues and silvers in this mix.The first layout is of me and my hubby on Halloween. We dressed up as a Day of the Dead couple. I think its by far my most favorite costume we've ever pulled together.

I used just a little bit of mist to make the flower match the blue in the paper.

For the next card, I used the add on kit. I love this line by Basic Grey!

Aren't those little flowers the cutest?!

I have to be completely honest...I don't really like this next card. I had a vision for it but just couldn't get it quite right onto paper. *sigh*

This last layout is a bit different for me. I'm not used to having so much white space on my layouts. I kept wanting to add more stuff, but I really wanted the pictures of Bekah to stand out. I got the inspiration from here.

It's that time again...the reveal for Scrappy Chics new kit of the month! December's main kit is full of October Afternoon. I love how whimsical this line is...so bright and cheery.This first layout I did is of Bekah modeling a chef's hat and apron that I made for one of her friends. She's quite the model, huh? :)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------This next one is of her blowing bubbles. I've had these pictures since this last summer, but I just didn't have the right line of papers to use. I love how it came together. I used a sketch from Sketchabilities and that can be found here.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------This last one is a box that I decorated using the add on kit. It was so hard cutting up these gorgeous papers by My Mind's Eye! I plan on filling it with some handmade Christmas ornaments and giving it as a gift. I will post pictures when I finish with the ornaments.

another stunning kit

I know that I say this about every kit Melinda puts together...but November's kit is really AWESOME!! For those of you who were lucky enough to get your hands on one of these kits...I congratulate you! :) Seriously, folks, this kit is stunning.
(And, unfortunately, all sold out)

Here's what I did with mine:

One fall day...I love these pictures of Bekah. She's still at the age where she'll actually let me take pictures of her :) Better take advantage of that while I can!

The green letter stickers and the yellow ruffled ribbon are from past Scrappy Chics kits. One of the things I love about her kits is that they are so versatile!

I'm really loving the banner stamps, too.

First Crush...A layout dedicated to his first real crush. It was quite a shock to have my 5 year old come home with love notes from his special girl. Yep, I saved them :)

I peeled the top layer off of the chipboard letters then misted them with yellow mist to match my layout. I tried misting them before I peeled them and the mist just wiped off. This trick could be used with any chipboard...peel then mist :)

On this next layout, "the dress", I used brown stamping ink to color the chipboard letters.

I also added a couple spiral roses, as well.

Scrappy Chics Design Team Call

Scrappy Chics is looking for 3 new designers to join our very talented design team. If you love scrapbooking and paper crafts we would encourage you to try for our team.

This DT position will start with December 2011 kit and end with May 2012 kit. We ask for very serious, ambitious, and committed chics that love the scrapbook world as much as we do.

This DT call is open for the US and International submissions. (international DT members will be responsible for part of the shipping charges)

For being a part of SC team and for all your commitment, you will receive either a main kit each month or an add-on kit plus embellishment kit. It will alternate each month. Plus you will receive 30% off SC kits during your 6 month term.

Here is what SC’s would need from you:

You must complete a minimum of 3 layouts, 3 cards or 2 layouts, a project, or 3 cards and a project. These need to be sent to SC by the 25th of each month for reveal day, which is the 1st of each month. Your projects, layouts,cards etc. need to be posted on your blogs, facebook, twitter and any other public galleries you participate in.
Daily participation on SC’s facebook is required. Also when SC’s blog is running smoothly participation on the blogs forum will be required. SC is asking you to post questions, techniques, or whatever to keep conversations going on our FB page.
We also ask that you post at least two tutorials during your DT term. They can be either photo or video tutorials.

Tell us why you want to be a part SC’s DT and how you would be a good addition to our team.

The new kit is available at Scrappy Chics! Last I heard, she actually still had some kits left for purchase! But don't wait too long...I bet her kits will be gone really quick!

This first layout is of Bekah demonstrating the correct (wrong) way to make a "peanut sammich". I love these pictures. It truly captures the fun of her age.

This kit also has a beautiful album by Pink Paislee. I only got as far as decorating the front...but I plan to finish the inside before Christmas. I have an idea on who will be getting this, but I can't say here :)

I used the raw side of the dress form. I painted it and then I stamped over it.

I cheated a bit on this card. I must confess that I didn't use all Scrappy Chics products on it. I made this card for a teacher at school and I didn't plan on using it for my design team projects...BUT I was sick the entire month of September and I ran out of time. Sooooo, I cheated and used this.

Like I mentioned before, I've been really sick, so I haven't had much time for blogging, or anything really. I finally made it to the doctor and found out that I have bronchitis. I'm slowly getting better and am getting really tired of all this resting business.

I'm hoping to be back to regular blogging soon!

Sorry I haven't uploaded my latest projects for the September kit for Scrappy Chics. I had a four day weekend this last weekend and I spent every day sicker than sick.

So here are my projects...and unfortunately, this months kit is all sold out. It was a fabulous one!!

Yes, my little guy is a first grader. I love how the embellishments worked so well with the school theme.

My fearless little girl. She loves to show the big kids that she can do it, too! This line of paper from Crate Paper is one of my most favorites. I love all of the girly papers, but the crossword paper is the best!!

Our happily ever after...I love this one. I love the random pictures of me and my family that blend so well with the papers in the kit.

I've been wanting to make a memory box for Bekah's baby stuff. I was just waiting for the perfect line of paper. I told ya I loved this line!! I just used an ordinary photo box and embellished it. I haven't gotten to the inside yet, but I plan on decorating that, too.

It's official, I have a first grader. I don't know how it happened. One minute he was a cute, cuddly baby boy and now he's a know it all first grade boy!! Where did the time go?

Gavin was very excited for first grade. I think he was mainly excited to see his friends that he missed over the summer. While his first day (and week) wasn't all that he expected, I think he'll do just fine this year.

Friday night he did cry about missing his teacher from last year. Mr. S was an awesome teacher and even I miss having him teach Gavin. More teachers need to be like him :)

Summer is almost over (boo.) But since its August 1st, I can show you my projects that I did with this months kit from Scrappy Chics (yay!).

This first one is a card that will be perfect for my cousin's upcoming wedding...

This next layout is not my favorite. I love the pictures of the kids, but I just feel I didn't do them justice.

This next one is a very special layout of mine. I have had these pictures of my Papa's memorial since October. Its taken me this long to find just the right papers to go with it.

Finally, this last layout is my most favorite one that I did with this kit. My first attempt at an accordian flower turned out pretty good :)

I used a lot of leftover goodies from previous kits on these layouts. Be sure to check out what the other design team girls did, here.

Sorry this post is late. My computer is being weird and not allowing my to publish my posts. Ugh. So I have to publish from my I-Touch, and that just died the other night. Double Ugh. So now I have to beg my sweet husband to use his Android to publish my blog posts. I'm just lucky he doesn't mind ;)

Anyway, the new kit for July at Scrappy Chics is so much fun!! The main kit is all sold out :( Please, please, if you arey loving these kits you really need to make sure that you PREORDER! Melinda can't keep up with all the orders :) I do believe that there are some add on and embellishment kits available, so be sure to check them out!

If you are not familiar with the book Pinkalicious, its about a girl who loves pink. She loves pink so much, that she eats way too many pink cupcakes and turns herself red.

All together now, "OH NO, NOT RED!!!" Pinkalicious is Bekahs most favorite book. She loves all of the Pinkalicious books (Purplicious, Goldilicious and Silverlicious) but Pinkalicious is THE book.

The new prompt is up at Scrap that Baby and this time its all about reading.

I got inspiration for this layout from her. She is fabulous...I love all of her work!! I used some Basic Grey and Crate Paper in this one.

I did a lot of fussy cutting on this layout. I love the look of fussy cutting, I just don't like doing it!

Guess who turned 3 today?

...Little Miss Bekah J, thats who!!

I still can't believe that it's already been three years. Three years of crying, laughing, smiling, playing dress up, painting nails, having tea parties, snuggling and so much more. She is my most favorite little girl in the whole wide world!! I am so very blessed to have her in my life.

It's June, already?!

I just realized tonight that I started this blog entry a few days ago and forgot to finish it! Oops!

The June kit at Scrappy Chics is unfortunately all sold out, but I wanted to share with you my projects to give you an idea on how fabulous these kits are!!

My first project, I must confess, I scraplifted it from the Maya Road blog. Mine turned out a bit different, but the idea is the same.

This turned out to be a great gift for my grandma on her 80th birthday. It's always so hard to get her anything, when she has EVERYTHING!! I can't wait to see it hanging in her laundry room. :)

I really wanted to sew the papers but I got lazy and decided to just ink the edges instead.

This layout of the kids features my new favorite pictures of them. I love how cute they look! Bekah all pretty in her princess dress and Gavin looking like a teenager (almost!).

This last layout turned out completely different than I had imagined it would. I ended up spending about 3 days on this baby. I couldn't get things "quite right". But it finally all came together. I love how the My Mind's Eye paper and the Pink Paislee paper blended well with each other.

The kit for May is available at Scrappy Chics!! Wanna see what I did with my kit? Well, even if you don't I'm still gonna show you :) .....

These cards are made with the Jillibean Soup papers and coordinating stickers and die cuts. I just love the bright colors and cute sayings!

This next layout is of Bekah in her princess wear. She loves dressing up and I just had to document the day she added her obnoxious Dora glasses.

I drew the clouds out by freehand and cut them out and adhered with pop up dots. I was a little nervous at first to do this without a template, but I think they turned out pretty good!

This last layout is of Bekah, again :) A trip to the park produced some really good scrapping pictures!! As you can see, I've been doing a lot of sewing on my pages lately. I'm really liking it, too! It adds so much visual interest and it's cheap!!

Here is a project that I put together with the April kit from Scrappy Chics. I also used the goodies that were in the embellishment kit. I orginally made this for myself, but I think I am going to gift it :)

The stamp is part of the Donna Downey collection and can be purchased here. I also got the quote from another stamp by Donna Downey.

I am really happy with the way it turned out. I hope the recipient loves it as much as I do!!

Sassafras has a new challenge up for the month of April. I decided to give it a shot.

I misted the background cardstock blue and then added my title. I outlined the stickers with a pen to make them pop.

I think my favorite part is the journaling along side the rainbow!

Finally!! I can show you the layouts that I did with the April kit from Scrappy Chics. This kit is my most favorite one...I think I've mentioned that already :) It's full of My Minds Eye and Sassafras papers, beautiful ribbon, bling and gorgeous flowers.

Everything you see (except for the little jewels on the butterflies) on my layouts is from the main kit or the add on kit. Unfortunately, her add on kits are all sold out :( So if you ever have a chance to purchase one, I highly recommend you do it!! They are filled with so many yummy goodies!!

Make-up, beards and a hospital stay

This last Sunday I decided to do something I've been wanting to do for a while. I played "make-up" with Bekah. I put a little bit of eye shadow and blush and just a touch of lipstick on her. Just for fun.

And of course, Gavin saw what I was doing and wanted to join in on the fun. So I decided to draw a mustache and a beard on him. He looked very devious :)

And or course, Bekah wanted to have a mustache and a beard drawn on her face, too.

Then about four hours after our make up fun, Gavin got sick.

He was camped out on the loveseat for the afternoon, quiet and lethargic. Then he started throwing up. He threw up about a dozen times between 4pm and 7pm. My poor little guy, I felt horrible for him.

At about 7:30, I made him a bed on the floor in his room. Just in case he needed to throw up, I wanted him to be able to reach his puking bucket. I put "Megamind" in his DVD player and went in to Bekah's room and put her to bed.

At about 8pm he fell asleep. I was keeping my fingers crossed that he wouldn't wake up sick...

Ten thirty pm and he woke up throwing up. After I cleaned him up, he went back to sleep until about 2 am. This time he woke up with diarrhea. Then he threw up.

This cycle continued every one and a half to two hours. Pooping, puking, pooping, puking. By morning,I knew that he was in no shape to attend his first day back to school after Spring Break.

I ended up taking the day off as well and stayed home to take care of my sick little guy. The vomitting never stopped. I was starting to get worried because he was getting dark circles under his eyes and he couldn't even keep water down. By now, he was dry heaving.

We ended up having to take him to the doctor, where we found out that he had lost about 6 pounds in 24 hours. The doctor wanted to get an IV in him to give him some fluids because he was suffering from dehydration and fever. Unfortunately, they weren't able to get the IV into his vein so we ended up having to admit him into the hospital for an overnight stay.

At the hospital, it took 5 more tries before they could get the IV into his little veins. It was so heartbreaking listening to his cries and screams while they tried to get a vein. The nurses were getting frustrated and I was getting mad. I felt so helpless!! Finally, they called an ER nurse to do the job and, thankfully, he succeeded.

About an hour after they started the fluids, my little man fell asleep. And he slept and slept and slept some more.

Erin stayed the night with him so that I could go home and get some sleep since I was up with him so much the night before. It was so hard leaving my son in the hospital. So hard.

He was doing so much better the next morning and was released and back at home by 9:30 am. But he still wasn't himself. He spent the majority of the day on his mattress upstairs watching tv. He was still fighting diarrhea.

When it came time for bed he requested his puking bucket, "just in case". He finally fell asleep watching-you guessed it-"Megamind".

I had to get up three times with Gavin that night to help him with the diarrhea that just doesn't want to leave his body. That was last night.

Today I was concerned about his lack of eating, his diarrhea and his lethargy. I spoke with the doctor and she said that unfortunately, it may take a few days for the virus to leave his body. But she did say to keep pushing the fluids and maybe start him on solid foods tomorrow. The last real meal Gavin had was lunch on Sunday. :(

As of right now, he seems to be slowly getting better. He is still having tummy issues and is afraid to eat anything because he thinks he'll throw it up. I'm just concentrating on pushing the liquids on him to make sure he doesn't get dehydrated and have to be admitted again.

Isn't it amazing, though, how things like this make us realize that we take the little things for granted? How I really miss my rowdy, outgoing and tenacious little guy right now! (Remind me that when he is back to himself and I am pulling out my hair in frustration!!)

I just can't get over how fast it took for him to get sick. Seriously, the first picture was him just a few hours before he got sick. I never even seen it coming. So now we are all just waiting for our little guy to get back to himself. I'm ready for this to all be over.

My five year old loves Legos. I mean, really, what kid doesn't? Or adult for that matter! They are bright and cheery and very educational-they teach you that it really hurts to step on one!!

March's kit at Scrappy Chics is full of Crate Paper and Basic Grey!! I love this kit and had so much fun with it.

Here's what I did...

This first LO is of Bekah and her messy fudgsicle. There wasn't much purple in the papers so I stitched a border around the paper using purple thread.

This LO of Gavin is done using one of my most favorite pictures of him. I didn't really even have a plan for this one, just started laying stuff on the page.

This last LO is just a random LO of Bekah and myself. It's my take on this sketch.

bonnie & clyde

Back in January, I purchased a paper pack of Cosmo Crickets Circa 1934 from Carrie, a friend of mine. I love the beautiful colors and designs on the paper. So much, in fact, that it was really hard for me to use it! But I finally did, and I am very happy with the results.

This LO is of my grandparents. It was taken sometime in the late 1940's or early 1950's. It is probably one of my most favorite pictures of the two of them together. All of us in the family have always commented about how this picture reminds us of the movie "Bonnie and Clyde".

I got the idea for the layout from this sketch. The bling swirl is from Prima, and I actually cut it in half to make it work with the LO.

February is more than half way over...you know what that means? It means that before you know it the new kit for March will be up for grabs at Scrappy Chics!! I have been having a blast playing with next months kit.

One of the great things about Melinda's kits, is that even after creating 2 layouts, I still have a TON of stuff left over to do many more!! I plan on doing at least one more layout before the full reveal.

I know you want a sneak...

This weeks prompt at Scrap that Baby is in honor of Valentines Day. Reasons why you love your baby. I didn't create a new LO; instead, I used a MUCH older LO of my little Gavin. I thought it fit the theme perfectly.

Design Team Call!

I cant believe its almost been a YEAR of fun and babies!! We are losing a few of our fabulous designers so Scrap that Baby! is looking to add at least 4 more enthusiastic scrappers to our fabulous design team! If you love to scrap kids 4 and under we are looking for you!

To apply email scrapthatbaby@hotmail.com the answers to the following questions and attach 3 of your favorite baby layouts (that best showcase your current style)

1. Tell us about the babies you scrap. (ages newborn thru 4) How old are they? Are you Mommy? Grandma? Nana? Auntie Sarah? Babysitter? Are you scrapping pictures of your grown(or semi-grown) children from way back when?

2. Are you (or have you been) on any other design teams? (no experience necessary... just nosy)

3. What message boards to you frequent?

4. Do you alter projects or make cards?

5. Link your blog (if you have one)

6. Link to an online gallery where we can see the scope of your work

Requirements:

1. One NEW never seen layout per month (You are required to create a NEW layout for 1 of the 2 challenges monthly. You may submit a previously seen layout for the other challenge or opt out.)

2. Leave love/comments on participant's blogs and help choose the favorites

3. Write at least 1 tutorial, tip, article or technique during your term.

4. Promote Scrap that Baby! on message boards you frequent and your personal blog (if you have one)

robot valentines

Sorry I haven't blogged in over a week...I've been feeling a bit under the weather lately. With Valentine's Day approaching and Gavin's Valentine party yesterday, I did have to make time to make some Valentines.

Have you seen the new issue of Scrapbooks Etc? They have the cutest little robot valentines. The body is a mini hersheys candy bar wrapped in patterned paper. When I first saw them, I KNEW that those were the valentines that my Gavin was going to take to school!!

So I purchased some googly eyes, candy bars, kids glue sticks...you know, the kind of stuff that I REALLY should already have on hand :) And I had such high hopes. Images of me and Gavin sitting at the table working on the valentines...laughing, bonding...having a great time.

Instead, I had to deal with a cranky and bossy 5 year old who only made ONE valentine. Lucky for me, Grandma and Nanny were here to help me. Between the 3 of us, we made 24 of those babies.

I think his turned out to be the cutest. I really wanted to keep it, but he insisted on giving it to a girl in his class that he really likes. Uh oh, looks like mommy is second best. :(

Have you heard of My Scrapbook Nook? It's a wonderful kit club that I discovered. I have yet to play with any of the kits, but they look divine.

They are in the middle of choosing 5 new design team members. I am one of 40 FABULOUS ladies that have made the first cut from 124 applicants!!! I haven't shared this news because I didn't want to jinx it :)

The ladies that I am competing with...wow. They are so talented. I am just in awe over their creations. Even if I don't make the team, it has be a complete HONOR just to say that I was on the same boat with these girls!

Anyway, Leah at My Scrapbook Nook put together a list of ten questions for all of us ladies to answer in hopes of getting to know us better.

I thought I'd share the questions and my answers here...

1: What did you want to be when you grew up?

A SAHM. Seriously.

2: What was your favorite book as a child, and what is it as an adult?

Um, this sounds bad, but I remember reading VC Andrews books when I was in the 6th grade. I loved those books! And now, I am a complete Twilight junkie. I think I've read that series at least 5 times now.

3: Choose only one scrap company for the rest of your life. . .

This is tough. I think right now I'd have to say Pink Paislee.

4: If you could have dinner with a well known person who has died, who would it be? Why?

Probably Elvis Presley. I have always been drawn to his music and I thought he seemed pretty charming, too!

5: Do you know what your actual hair color is?
Yep, its the color that it is right now...well minus the random gray hairs!! Very dark brown.

6: Choose one superpower to have- which is it?

I would love to have the superpower of speed. I tend to have way too many household chores that are neglected due to my obsession with creating...

7: What is your ideal home (size, country vs city, special features)

I'm a little bit country and a little bit city. Not smack in the middle of a big city, but not wayyyy out of town. I would love a house with 4 large bedrooms; one being a master bedroom and one being a scrap room. Vaulted celings, huge back yard. Very big kitchen with a snack bar and an island. I've always had a small kitchen and I would LOVE to have a bigger one with more room to move around.

8: Best advice you've ever received.

Make sure to enjoy your kids before they grow up. I tend to forget this quite often...I really need to slow down more and have more tea parties with my girl and build train tracks with my boy. They grow up way too fast.

9: What is your guilty pleasure?

Diet Coke. I am sooooo addicted to that. But not in the can. Ick. Only in the bottle or from the fountain. I am a can snob. LOL

10: If I am underestimating you, what is it that I should know?

I am one of the best bakers you will ever meet. I love to bake and it shows in my treats I am also a very dedicated friend to those that I love.

I had fun with these questions and I think I just may have to document these in a mini album here soon. I never do anything about myself, its always about the kids. I'm sure that one day they would like to know what kinds of things their momma liked.

Princess Bekah

On one of my recent layouts I used two pictures of Bekah in her "princess" dress. I just wanted to share the rest of the photos that I took that same day.

I know they aren't the best in quality, but I really love these pictures. I'm still trying to teach myself how to take better pictures...I think I'm just gonna have to get a book or take a class! :)

I used Indie Girl by Sassafras in this LO. I love the colors!!

More papers by Sassafras, although the black background paper is October Afternoon. This is a more simple page for me...but I am really happy with how it turned out.

the first 12 months

A friend of mine just recently had a baby shower and since she was having her second girl, I was at a loss of ideas for a gift. Then I remembered a memory box that I made for Gavin's first 12 months. It's a great way to store all of the sweet little trinkets from those early stages of life.

My friend is not very traditional in her girl colors (no to pink) so I found some old Pink Paislee paper that just happened to be her theme colors and was also very feminine at the same time.

On the inside of the lid I left a spot for her to place a 4x6 picture of her new baby.

On the inside of the box and used some Thickers to spell out her name.

I also made a card to match the box!

I was really happy with the results. In fact, I wanted to keep it for myself :) But of course, I didn't. My friend was very happy and impressed with the gift. And she loved the colors (whew!!)
I love giving handmade gifts to people that appreciate them!!

Last month a friend of mine asked me to create some pages for her daughters nanny. It seemed like it took forvever, but I finally got them finished!! All EIGHTEEN pages! Now I can do some scrapping of my own :) And let me tell you...I've got a lot I want to do!!

There's a new prompt up at Scrap that Baby! We are challenging you to create a layout about your baby celebrating any of the winter holidays. I chose to do a layout on the anticipation and excitement on Christmas Eve.

I absolutely love this line by Pink Paislee. For this layout I used the December kit at Scrappy Chics.

I've been trying to use my punches more often...and right now I am favoring the scallop border punch. I love layering them on top of each other and then curling them up for dimension.

Looking back at all the projects that I did for 2010, I am a bit surprised that I did more than I thought I did!! Of course, I do have some favorites. In no particular order, here are my favorite projects/layouts for 2010...

four Christmases

This year we had four Christmases. Yes, it was fun, yes, it was exhausting, and yes, we are all still trying to recover from them!!

Our first "Christmas" was just the four of us. Since Daddy was working nights during Christmas week we decided to celebrate a few days early, before he went back to work. Santa always makes a special trip for the kids even when we have to celebrate early with Daddy.

So five nights before the big guy actually comes, the kids left out cookies and milk for his "special" stop.

Can you see the excitement on their faces? Bekah kept "testing" the milk to make sure it was okay :) Silly girl. The next morning Gavin was so excited to see that Santa had left a partially eaten cookie. Apparently Bekah was excited too, but for a different reason. When she thought nobody was looking she ate the rest of the left over cookie!

Christmas Eve, the actual Christmas Eve, was a very big day for us. For me, actually. It was the very first time in the 34 years of my life, that I spent Christmas with my Dad. I sure was missing out :)

My Dad's side of the family is huge! Gigantic!! There were over 40 adults and teenagers there and probably about 20-30 kids. We all had a great time and didn't get home until 1:30 am!! Crazy, I know!

Christmas day we spent with my mom's side of the family. It was definitely more low key than Christmas Eve!! And it was very different not having Papa with us to celebrate. He was extremely missed and I know that he was looking down at us from Heaven.

Today we spent the afternoon with my mother in law and opened presents and ate pizza. It was a nice, quiet get together and the kids had fun opening another round of gifts.

Although we had a wonderful Christmas, er Christmases, I am so glad that it's over. Time to take the decorations down for another year. Time to clean the house after the holiday bomb. Time to get ready for a fresh start to a new year!

Scrappy Chics January Reveal

January's kit at Scrappy Chics is one of my favorites!! It features October Afternoon and Cosmo Cricket. I love the retro feel of the kit.

This first layout that I did is of an old picture of my grandparents. I love how this line went so well with the retro picture.

The second layout is of Miss Bekah at Gavin's 4th birthday party. She was so cute eating all the fruit off of Daddy's fruit kabobs!!

My friend Aimee is on the Design Team for Sassy Lil' Sketches...it's a great sketch blog and I've been wanting to give it a try. I fell in love with the sketch for October 28th...here is my take on it...

I love the color combination on green and purple. It goes perfect with Miss Bekah's shirt!

I'm so glad that I have such great subjects to scrapbook! As you can see, they definitely keep things VERY interesting :)

the scar

This weeks prompt at Scrap that Baby is all about the ouchies and boo-boos. I chose to do a layout on a subject that I have wanted to scrap about ever since it happened...Bekah's scar.

Journaling reads:

When people ask about the scar above your lip, we always tell them you were hit by a buffalo...It was actually a frozen package of buffalo meat that fell out of the freezer. You just happened to be on the floor next to the fridge and became the helpless victim. The corner of the package made a perfect cut into your skin. At 9 months old you already had a cool story to tell!!

Thankfully, her scar has faded and you can barely see it. I felt so bad that it happened...But we love telling people she was hit by a buffalo!!

Spiral roses

This is a tutorial that I did for Scrap that baby! It was supposed to be posted on the 23rd, but the blog owner has been sick. I have had a few requests from people on how to make these roses, so I thought I would post it here since I'm not sure when it will be posted on the Scrap that baby blog.

I'm obsessed with spiral roses. Seriously. I love how easy they are to make and how you can make them small or big, with glitter or without. The possibilities are endless!

So today, I will show you how to make them!

1. First, you will need to trace and cut a circle from your paper. I just used a tin to draw my circle. Double sided paper works best for these, but one sided paper (like I used) works okay, too

2. Now you need to cut a spiral into the circle. It doesn't have to be perfect. Make sure when you get to the center of the circle that you leave a big enough piece left. That piece will be the base that you glue your flower to.

3. Cut off the funky piece to make your spiral look more uniformed.

4. Starting from the outside, roll the paper as tight as you can. Continue to roll until you come to the base. Once again, the roll doesn't have to be perfect either.

5. Before you glue your flower to the base, carefully let go of the spiral so that it kind of fans out. You can adjust your flower to be as tight or as open as you want it to be.

6. Glue the spiral to the base. Make sure you use a heavy duty glue. (I like Beacons.) After you glue it together, hold it together for a few seconds to help it adhere. Set it aside for a couple minutes to dry.

7. Now is the fun part! You can paint, glitter, ink or distress the flower. Or just leave plain!!
On this flower, I used a glue pen to disperse glue on random parts of the flower. Then I poured glitter over it.

I hope you enjoyed learning how to make your own spiral roses! They are very addicting to make!

Here is proof that I really HAVE been busy and not just slacking! :)

This first layout is taken from a sketch from this blog. The papers are Pink Paislee's Sweetness line and are left over from my Scrappy Chics November Kit.
I really love this line...the colors are so feminine. It's great for all of those pictures I have of Bekah!

And for the close ups...

This next layout is one of my new favorites. Once again I used Pink Paislee (I've had this paper for forever!!). I love how the colors match the colors on Gavin's shirt. And the pictures...yes, they are such a riot, my kidlets are. I've been wanting to scrap these pictures ever since I snapped them. I just didn't know what I was going to do. I love how it turned out!

Close ups again...

The next two projects are from the December kit at Scrappy Chics. Yes, Pink Paislee again!! These pictures are from Bekah's first Christmas and it's taken me this long to find just the right paper to scrap it! The snowflake in the layout was just an ornament that was laying on the table instead of on the Christmas tree. I think it made just the right touch!

You know the drill :) ...

Finally, I will end this with a Christmas card that I did from the same kit.

After taking a few weeks off from scrapbooking, I am now trying to cram in all of the things I need to get done this month. I did finish my projects for Scrappy Chics, hooray! I am so excited about the December Kit. LOTS of yummy goodies in that one!!
I'm planning on entering some contests this month as well. Wish me luck! I always get so disappointed when I don't make the cut...and I try so hard not to take it personally. BUT, I guess that's how life is; full of disappointments as well as victories.
I will share a few glimpses of what I have been working on...hope you like it!!

a love story on halloween

Remember a few weeks ago when I said that I was Guest Designer for the month of October at Paper Lovelies? Remember how I showed a sneak peek and said I would post a full picture in a couple days? Yeah, I kinda forgot about it. Oops!

Anyway, here is the layout that I did for Paper Lovelies. I used the Halloween line by Graphic 45. Completely out of my safe zone! The paper is beautiful, but just not something I usually work with. Plus, I had to do a 2 page layout; I prefer single page layouts. But you know what? I am happy with the results and even happier that I was able to meet the challenge :)

These pictures were taken on Halloween 2006. It was the last time Erin and I went out for the holiday. We had a lot of fun dressing up as the Queen of Hearts and the March Hare. My husband is such a great sport!!

If your kids are anything like mine, then you'll definitely be able to play along this week at Scrap that Baby!! This time the challenge is all about mischief makers. Yep, when you are talking about my kids, that's an understatement!!

These pictures were taken after Bekah got into her brother's (washable, thank goodness) markers and decided to beautify her baby dolls.

I used the November Kit from Scrappy Chics. Love, love, love all the new Pink Paislee line "Sweetness"!!

Was a little hesitant and not sure what to do with all the gorgeous paper, but I decided to do a little fussy cutting and cut the corner flowers out of one sheet. I then attached it to my page using some pop up dots. I think I'll be doing this often, I really like how it turned out!

Sorry I haven't been around much lately, things are still a bit...I can't even think of a word. Just missing my Papa and still coping with the loss. Hopefully I will be back to regular blogging real soon.

I will say this...I love my Papa Joe so very much. He was more than just a Papa to me, but also a father figure. I miss you Papa.

For my mom

Tomorrow is my mom's birthday...(happy birthday, mom!) and I put together a couple of layouts for her of her grandkids.

I love this line by My Minds Eye. My mom's place is decked out in blacks and reds and I really wanted to keep that theme going. This paper worked so well...and it really is absolutely gorgeous!!

Of course, I had to use my trademark butterfly punch :)

I used the same line with this layout of Gavin. I really do love how this one turned out.

I've been on a spiral flower kick lately...I love how pretty they turn out!

The finishing touch was putting these layouts in black shadowbox frames. They looked so good I wanted to keep them for myself!! My mom got her birthday gift a day early and she seemed to be very pleased with them.

cheap thrills

Who knew a cheap pair of Groucho Marx glasses would be so much fun?

I bought Bekah a pair a few days ago and she loves them! In fact, the next day she just HAD to wear them everywhere we went. Everywhere ended up being Gavin's school and the store. I'm sure she ended up being known as the girl with the Groucho Marx glasses!

Of course, Gavin had to try on the glasses, too.

Woah, where did the vampire come from?! Isn't he the cutest little vampire, though?

Save your packaging!

Scrapbook embellishes seem to come in packaging that almost rival the goodies themselves! Be sure to save your packaging because there are many creative things you can do with them...

Like this flower container from Prima. The container in it's plain form is great, but adding some flowers, ribbon and patterned paper makes it absolutely fabulous!!

I used more Fancy Pants paper in this project (love this line, can't you tell?) Isn't it amazing what you can do with an empty scrapbook container? You could fill this with candies, or jewelry...the possibilities are endless!

(Sorry I don't have a step by step tutorial for this one...I was doing this as a last minute project and didn't even think to take pictures of the process until it was too late.)

The new prompt is up at Scrap that Baby! This time, in honor of Grandparent's Day that was a few days ago, the challenge is all about baby with the grandparents.

I chose to do my layout about my great-grandma Lu Lu.

I used lots of Fancy Pants paper in this one...I love this line!!

The journaling reads:

This was my great-grandma Lu-Lu. I was only 4 in this picture, so I don't remember too many things about her. I remember she liked butterflies and cookies. She lived in the downstairs of my grandparent's home. She travelled to many different places when she was younger because she was a stewardess.
Her couch was my safe place when people were mean.
She loved me and I loved her.

I love making those paper flowers!!

I never realized just how much Bekah looks like me when I was younger...we have the same smile!

a new kindergartener

Can you believe it? Gavin is now a kindergartner. I honestly do not know where the time went. Where did my baby boy go? As much as I love him growing up and doing things for himself, I do wish that time would slow down just a little bit.

I took him to school on his first day, totally thinking that I would be fine and not shed any tears.

I was wrong.

We went back to his classroom and he went right into routine. Found his jacket hook, put his lunch away and found his seat. No problem. Piece of cake.

While he was sitting there coloring and waiting for class to start, another little boy who wasn't so eager to start school came into the classroom. Poor little guy was bawling his eyes out. I felt so bad for him and even worse for his mom. But she held herself together and didn't shed a tear. At least not in front of him.

It made me realize just how big my little man is getting. How independent he is becoming. How, someday, he won't want me to walk him to his classroom. Won't want to hold my hand. Won't want momma's kisses. I am not ready for that day to come. Not at all.

Shortly before class was about to start, I asked Gavin if it was okay if I could leave. Yep. No problem there. At least not for him.

I had a great surprise when I went to the state fair on Thursday. I found out that I won ribbons for both of my projects that I entered!

I recieved a first place ribbon for my layout of Bekah...

and a first place AND a first place in the division ribbon for my decorated box!!

I am so excited! I honestly DID NOT expect to place in anything. It was a wonderful surprise seeing the ribbons. :)

Here are a few things I would like to share...

Summer here in Alaska has been pretty much of a let down this year. In fact, I think we are on 30 days straight of rain. No kidding. I think we got all of our sunshine in the end of May! BUT, there were a COUPLE days that we were blessed with sunshine...and it was actually warm enough to pull out the pool! Hooray!

This next layout is of my two kidlets being themselves in the backyard pool. I actually did get some better shots of them, but this picture is by far my favorite. I love the no-don't-splash-me-oh-wait-you-are-so-I'll-stick-out-my-tongue expression on Bekah's face. And of course, Gavin has to come back with an AHHHHHAAAAAAA-I-got-you look of his own.

My kids make me laugh :)

I used Bo Bunny paper here and the round accent is a design from the paper that I hand cut out and stitched and curled up the edges for dimension. I love how bright and cheery this paper is!

The end of our summer is nearing...and the best end to it is the Alaska State Fair!! For two weeks we have rides, games, good food, lumberjacks, good food, produce, and good food! Oh, and good food! :)

This next layout is of Gavin and Daddy at the fair two years ago. He LOVED the carousel. Since he is a big boy of 5 years old now, I don't think this ride will be at the top of his list. Bekah, maybe.

I have a new obsession with banners. I used paper from The Girl's Paperie on this one. I really love this line!! And the banner paper made it so easy to just cut out my banner pieces!

Some things I am enjoying right now...

This music video with Eminem and Rihanna. It helps that Charlie from Lost is in it as well...and even though the nature of the video isn't very good, I must say he looks mighty fine.

This blog. I have been following her ever since the birth of her last baby and I am in love with her photography skills. And the way she enjoys life.

This and this. I could watch these videos over and over. Oh wait, I already do!!

This new line of goodies from Pink Paislee. Isn't it absolutely gorgeous?! And this one from Cosmo Cricket...and this one from The Girls Paperie. With CHA done and over I have many, many favorites...but I won't bore you to death with showing you every.single.one. :)

This necklace. Isn't it just breathtaking? I love it! And I have a certain somebody in mind for this as a gift...

And him. After seeing Eclipse, I just can't stop thinking about him. I do love me some Edward, but wow, Jacob is really, really beautiful. And I keep watching him here.

The new prompt is up at Scrap that baby! It's all about the parents :)

For this layout, I had to really dig up the old pictures...This picture was taken at a friend's wedding back in January of 2002. It was almost exactly a year before we tied the knot.

This prompt was definitely challenging because I am so used to scrapping Gavin and Bekah and not much of anything else. But I loved the challenge and I know that some day the kids will really appreciate all of these stories...

My little guy has been five for over a week now. It's crazy, I know. I mean, it seems like yesterday that Daddy and I were in the hospital marveling at how tiny his fingers and toes were. It's amazing how fast time goes by...both my babies are growing up way too fast. Some days I feel that life is just speeding by and we really haven't stopped to enjoy things.

*sigh*

Anyway, the fifteenth of this month was Gavin's fifth birthday. It was also his last day of summer preschool (he's a kindergartener now!) and I baked some cupcakes for him to share with his friends at school. Daddy and Bekah joined me at the school to celebrate. After school, we took a trip to Toys R Us and spent about an hour and a half looking at all the cool toys. While it was a good experience, I do think that the kids were just a bit overwhelmed with everything.

Later that evening, we met up with my Dad and his side of the family at Gallos for a graduation party for my brother. We all had a blast, even though it was BLAZING HOT inside the restaurant! The kids seemed to take really well to all the relatives they hadn't met. And I really loved being around my family that I don't get to see very much.

The kids had a surprise later with a cake and gifts that my Dad had bought for them. So they got to blow out candles, hear the birthday song and open presents! Can you say spoiled? :)

After all that excitement, the kids were just plain wore out. Which was good for me and Daddy :) They actually slept in until 8 o'clock the next day!!

This layout I did of Bekah was a work in progress for about a month and a half! I started on it, but my vision didn't match what was happening, so I put it away for a bit until I could get a fresh look at it. Now that it is complete, it is one of my favorite layouts of her!

Yesterday was a doozy for Bekah. This is what happens when a 2 year old has a meltdown and decides to slam her face into the hardwood floor.

OUCH!! Poor little girl ended up with a puffy lip, a crease on her nose and her first ever nosebleed; which also happened to be a nosebleed that came from BOTH nostrils!!

But after all of that, she still is a cutie, isn't she?

I just realized the other day that I haven't shared this mini album yet. I did post a sneak peek a couple months back, but I forgot to load up the rest of the pictures! Shame on me!!

This is my all time favorite mini album. At least for right now :) It is of Bekah's favorite things at 20 months. Full of pink, sparkles, butterflies and all things girlie...I hope you love it as much as I do!!

Scrapping Bekah

Lately, I've been a bit busy working on fattening up Bekah's scrapbook album...I have TONS of layouts of Gavin, but not quite so many of Bekah. I have to admit, though, it has been really nice using girly stuff on my pages!!

The first layout is of her actual birthday. We celebrated with cupcakes and the birthday song. Used October Afternoon's Fly a Kite line. Swoon! I love this paper!

The next two layouts I did for The Color Room a challenge blog. These were for week 9 and 10...currently they are on week 14.

The first one here, is of Bekah sleeping in Daddy's chair. I love how peaceful she looks! Used a bit of Prima and Pink Paislee in this one.

This next one is of Bekah and Cowboy Woody. Both of my kids are on a Toy Story kick and I was able to catch Bekah giving smooches to the lucky cowboy. Lots of The Girl's Paperie in this one!

I have a few more layouts to share, but they are hush-hush for a bit...I will show them as soon as the coast is clear! :)

A toy story birthday.

Last weekend the kids had their combined birthday party. We did a Toy Story theme this year since they both are OBSESSED with Buzz, Woody, Jessie and the gang.

Gavin was so excited to blow out his candle...I can't believe that he will be FIVE on the fifteenth!!

This picture of Bekah was taken right after I had lit the candle. We hadn't even sang the birthday song yet. She was excited, I guess :) So I did light it again, but this time we sang the song BEFORE I actually lit the candle!

The kids had a great time even though the weather was yucky outside. They had tons and tons of gifts (worse than Christmas time!) and way too many cupcakes.

I would post more pictures of the party and the gift opening, but Blogger is being fickle about loading up pictures so I thought I would stop while I was ahead. :)

Birthday Girl

The birthday girl is two! Already!!

Since today is Bekah's birthday and we don't plan on having a party until later this month, I decided that we would just do a little family thing today. Nothing really special, just some yummy cupcakes and the birthday song.

She did so good at blowing out her candles. I was really surprised because she hasn't ever practiced before. It was so cute after she blew out the candles she did the sign for more. She wanted to do it again!

Isn't she a cutie?! I can't believe that it's been two years already. I can't believe that two years ago, I was this huge...

I can't believe how much my little Bekah J. has changed since the day we were blessed with her.

It's funny how even though two years have passed since the day she was born, I can remember it so clearly. I remember how wonderful it felt to have her in my arms for the first time. I remember how she smelled of that newborn fragrance that only new babies have. I remember how she had cute little curly wisps of blonde hair on her temples.

I remember how she had me wrapped around her little finger the instant I met her.

Roxie girl

Meet the newest addition to our family...Roxie!! She is a six month old "Boston Chug". Her momma was full Boston Terrier and her daddy was a chihuahua and pug mix. She is so lovable and playful!

We have been thinking about getting a dog ever since we spent some time over at our friends house. They have a lovable boxer that Erin just fell in love with. While we were on our mission to find a boxer, we found Roxie. She may not be a boxer, but she is the perfect dog for us. She loves the kids and we love her :)

Although, I DID have some doubts the first night when she pooped and peed on the floor! And howled and cried during bedtime...She was used to sleeping IN BED with her previous owner (uh-oh) and that WAS NOT going to happen here! She is doing great, though, adjusting quite well.

So now, I am pretty sure that completes our crazy family of one mommy, one daddy, one boy, one girl, two crazy cats and one playful pup!! Whew!

Lately, I've been ditching the cardstock and reaching for the canvas boards :) Too bad they haven't been for me. I've been making them as gifts for the family and I love the way they have been turning out!
I am obsessed with Crackle Paint by Tim Holtz...it is so much fun to play with. These canvases are so easy to do, too. I love the size (11X14) and the texture.

So, it's Tuesday. Typically I would be excited. I always look forward to Tuesday. That was before the end.

Call me pathetic, I know I am. But, darn it, why did this show have to end? After following it for the past six years, I feel like I've lost some close friends.

Hurley. I am gonna miss you, dude. All your references to Star Wars, your good natured heart...I never would've thought that you would end up where you did.

Locke. Don't tell anyone, but I secretly have a crush on you. Thank you for being the BEST actor on this series. It was a pleasure watching you each week, going from good to bad and bad to good. Even when you were fake Locke, I still loved you.

Jack. It was always you. From the very beginning, it started with you and ended with you. I must say that you totally redeemed yourself this season. At the beginning of this series you were in my favorites. Then you got all weird and over bearing and I lost interest. But this season, wow, you made me a believer again.

Sawyer. Sawyer. Sawyer...*sigh* Oh, how I will miss your dry sense of humor. The way you nicknamed just about every person on the island. Your dimples. Any scene where you were shirtless...I wouldn't hesitate at all to "play house" with you :) (okay, just don't tell my husband that!!)

I just still can't believe that it's over. There will not be anymore shows. It's not just over for the summer...it's over for good.

I guess I should just take the advice of Jack and "Let go".

At least I can watch the DVD's anytime I want, right?

Oops! I forgot to post the full projects to the last sneak peeks that I gave everyone! I've just been so busy enjoying the weather, that I forgot. Anyway, here are the projects that I did for Scraptique last month.

The first one is a mini album that I put together using Maya Road kraft envelopes. I have been wanting to do something like this for quite awhile, I just never took the time to do it. I am really pleased at how well it turned out! Of course, I did have a cute subject :)

This layout was made from the kit that I recieved last month from Scraptique. It was quite a challenge using the Sassafras paper! The colors are so bold but I think they go well with the Easter pictures.

Being a designer for Scraptique, I was given some "homework" at the last meeting :) Each of us had to put together a layout of ourselves using a record as the base. I simply just did a 12X12 layout and attached it to the record...nothing fancy ;)

BUT...I did make these super fabulous flowers to go on the layout!! I love these! Love the color, love the glitter...I just think they are so pretty!!

The next two "peeks" are part of my homework assignment, also. I'm not sure when they are supposed to be revealed, I believe sometime soon and on the Scraptique website maybe? Anyway, as soon as it's okay, I will be sure to post the whole project.

There's a snake in my boot!!

Lately, Gavin's new obsession has been Toy Story. From Woody to Buzz to Jessie to Rex, he loves all the characters. His little obsession has also made it's way to little Miss Bekah. She loves Woody...So much that Grandma Dawn had to go and buy more Toy Story toys so that Bekah and Gavin each had some. Can you say Spoiled??

Nice thing is, they both have birthdays coming up...and since this year we are combining their birthdays (just this once) a Toy Story party it will be!! I can't wait to do all of the decorations and invitations. I have quite a few fun ideas for goody bags and cupcakes and cookies...I almost feel like the party is more for me than my kids!! LOL!!

I better get started...June and July are just right around the corner!

slowing down

These three people are really the most important people in my life. I am truly blessed to have such a wonderful, understanding husband and two crazy, loving kids. With the chaos of everyday living, I often take them for granted.

I don't mean to.

While I was putting together this layout, I realized that I really do need to slow down and enjoy the days when we are all together. Gavin and Bekah are at such fun ages, I need to savor the moment...

before they are all grown up. :(

With the closing of the Craftgarden, I really didn't know what I was going to do with myself. I was on the DT there for four years and wasn't quite sure what to do afterwards. When I heard that Scraptique was expanding their DT I just had to give it a shot.

And...I did it! I made the Design Team at Scraptique!! Hooray!

I really can't wait to meet the other girls who were picked, as well as the other DT members. My first meeting is next month and I am so anxious :) I'm ready to start sharing my love of scrapbooking with everyone else :)

Buh bye num num...

The moment that I have been waiting for for the past several months has finally approached.

The "Num num" has left the building.

It has been over a week since I have nursed Bekah. And although I miss the closeness of it, I am thankful to have my "girls" back. :)

It all started on a Thursday night when I was able to put Bekah to sleep without nursing her. Yay! I figured that if I could do that, then she would be perfectly fine without any milk. So the next morning was the last time that I nursed her. She did great all day, only asked for it a couple times. That night I was able to put her asleep again with no problem. What a relief!! But I knew that come morning, she was going to want milk and be very upset if rejected.

I was right.

Saturday morning she was extremely upset. And that is just putting it mildly. She screamed and kicked and cried and threw things for about 20 minutes straight. Finally, to get some extra backbone on my side, I went to wake up Daddy.

While Daddy was waking up, Bekah and I went into Gavin's room to play. Or at least, I was trying to play with her. She was still pretty upset. And bless his heart, Gavin tried to make things better for her. He went and got her baby and her blankie. As soon as he handed her the baby doll, she snuggled right up to it.

And that broke my heart.

Then Gavin went and got her little carton of fancy milk and she took it!! She tried to throw it at me when I offered it, but took it from her brother. How sweet :)

The rest of the day was tough. She cried for num num several times, and was heartbroken when I rejected her. She did let me put her to sleep again without any problems.

Sunday morning was a little better. She was still asking for it throughout the day and still getting upset when denied. Monday was even better than Sunday. Tuesday she took her fancy milk carton from me with no problem. Wednesday she didn't ask for num num at all.

I have tried numerous times in the past to break her of nursing. And every time I failed. I think what made this time successful was the fact that I was 100 percent ready to quit. It was a hard decision to make because I loved the bonding between us, but she was just so darn needy!! Every time I would sit down she thought she could have some. And she would play during "our" time. Definitly not.

I still get to have my "Bekah" time. She will sit and cuddle with me in the morning while she drinks from her fancy milk container. I get lots of hugs and kisses from her, too. It makes me sad that my baby is no longer a baby...ahhh why do they have to grow up?

But I know that I made the right decision. I was ready this time. Now I can enjoy having her on my lap to cuddle and not worry about her asking for num num.

...I have been totally engrossed with LOST!! I am so sad it is the last season but excited at the same time for ANSWERS!! The season premiere was as good as the series premiere, way back when. Every Tuesday night at eight o'clock you can find me in front of the telly.

...I have been busy enjoying my husband's handy skills at remodeling our house. He knocked out the wall that was between the kitchen and dining room and it really opened up the place! I love it! Add some new paint on the walls and our house is really starting to become a home!! Up next...wood floors! Woohoo!!!

...I am saddened by the closing of the Craftgarden. It has been a home to my creativity for the past 4 years. I have met some wonderful people through that store...people that I will surely miss.

...I had a wonderful visit with my great-aunt Connie earlier this month. She is my grandma's sister--and she is a riot! I haven't seen her in over 7 years, so it was great playing catch up with her. I can't wait until next summer when she plans to visit again :)

...I have actually found some time to do some scrapbooking. I have a few new layouts that I haven't posted yet...

...I have been enjoying the craziness of my kiddos. They are such characters. Yin and yang...Gavin and Bekah truly deserve their own post describing all of their daily antics.

...I have been trying to wean Bekah of "num-num". It's not working. I tried cold turkey. That didn't work. I tried vinegar on (ahem) "num-num". That didn't work either. So...we are "ferberizing" her instead. (Translated: making her cry it out at night) The first night was terrible...she woke up every hour and a half. But last night was night number five and she only woke up once! I think it may be working :)

...I am not-so-patiently-anxiously-awaiting for New Moon to come out on DVD this month. I am such a Twihard :) Jacob or Edward? Hmm...yes, please. to both!!!

A visit from Santa Claus

About a week or so before Christmas, the kids got an unexpected (for them) visit from Santa. Santa just happened to be in the neighborhood and decided to stop by. He even had presents for all of us!!

Gavin was excited, but a bit shy. He did so much better around Santa than he has done in years past. Heck, in the past, he wouldn't even go near Santa! Bekah, for being as young as she is, did remarkably well. She was a bit timid at first, but after she opened her gift and discovered that it was a Yo Gabba Gabba toy, she seemed to be a bit warmer to him. She even let Santa help her put her boots on.

Soon it was time for Santa to leave and when he left our house he made sure to hand out candy canes to the kids next door. What a great Santa!! Thanks, Santa for making a special trip! And thanks, Mrs. Claus for sending him our way!!

The last two layouts I have done have been of sweet Bekah J. She is such a fun subject, too. She's at that fun age where I feel like I need to document every little thing.

This first layout is my favorite layout right now. I captured her and her funny faces one night during dinner and I just love how the layout came together. She cracks me up!!

This next layout is of her playing peek-a-boo. Or "puh-tuh" as she calls it :) I added a hidden journal feature behind the pictures because I couldn't figure out where on the layout to write the story!!

Soon I'll upload some of our pictures from Christmas and all our festivities. Things have just been crazy for me with getting all the projects done, that I just needed a little break. But-pictures, soon, I promise!!
